Paddling Tips http://www.citybikedepot.com.au/Hub/news?id=4

We get plenty of first timers to adventure racing. Typically they have come from a running and cycling background. Tackled with the new sport of paddling their first though is strength and "muscle" you way through it. After learning the hard way we have found the simple technique of staying above the kayak, whilst handy, is not enough.
Technique in your paddling stroke will help you be more stable ( allowing you to paddle faster boats ), be more efficient ( use less energy ) and therefore be faster. Like most water sports paddling is all about the correct technique. Us, we are cyclists - the guys to call are ProKayaks in Narrabeen. Matt Blundell has been adventure racing for many years and holds individual tuition as well as group training. He can also supply the craft of your needs for both the lesson and to purchase. Check them at www.prokayaks.com.au.
For those looking to complete their level 2 whitewater Penrith White Water Center will be holding a quick start course again soon to maximize paddle learning time in the shortest period. Next available date is the weekends of October 18 and 25th . This is the ideal course for those wanting to do New Zealand's Coast to Coast and needing their grade 2 certificate. Contact Stuart Macintosh at instruction@penrithwhitewater.com.au for all the details.
Northbridge Kayaks is holding a winter series of 8km races in Middle Harbour every 2nd Saturday check northbridgekayaks.com for a good hit out to get the arms burning.
