Hugh Flower
Still trying to figure out the reason for gears and suspension but running
out of excuses as to why singlespeeds are better. With a race history that
spans the 80’s fluro triathlon era, the early 90’s no suspension mountain
bike era and more recently the sleep deprived adventure racing and 24hr
endurance racing hugh has a wealth of knowledge he is happy to part with
as he has already used most of it. Creator of the Sydney MTB Trail Guide
and instructor on the Chix skills clinic he is also handy on where and how
to ride.
Favorite Trail - Tin Pot Trail & Dorrigio to Coffs Harbour
Bikes ( rarely ridden ) - Yeti 575, DA Bomb DJ,
Spot SS, Cannondale Six-13 ( Record ) , Cannondale 1FG, Soma Rush Track
Bike, Kona Coiler.
Years In Industry - Long enough to remember when
rigid was the only option, Fluro was cool and new, Suntour was THE group
and Shimano was yet to win a Tour De France.
Injuries - Broken collarbone jumping 24"
road bike, compound fracture of leg in bike v's car, wrist in general stupidity,
total 78 stitches various - realising he doesn't bounce as well as before.
chris "Pants " wilson - Armstrong:
The man who loves the long board all the way from californ-i-a has impressed
us with his ability to "peg" jeans in the punk inspired style.
Discovering the adhesion limits between rubber and dirt and in constant
denial that bib short and lycra are his future. Lover of his new Yeti 575
toy and hip Aussie chick Kim - not always in that order. Settling into the
Australian way of life Chris has yet to pronounce aluminum, buoys and mall's
correctly but the language barrier is lessening. If you want it done ask
Chris.
Bike Quiver - Yeti 575, Cannondale Synapse Shimano
Ultegra.
Surfed – California, Indo, Mex, Europe,
Sth Am, Sth Africa, France, Spain oh and sometimes Australia
MTB 'ed - California, Texas, Sth Carolina, New
Zealand – Rotorua plus some stuff in Australia
We know he's turned into an MTB rider not surfer when there has been perfect
surf but he has gone for a road ride - in lycra
Ultimate goal – beat Hamish in any race,
anywhere!!!
Favorite Trail - Ourimbah, Manly Dam
Results - Working week series 3 man team- currently
sitting in 4th
Best Injury – torn rotator cuff surfing.
Total of 200 stitches!
Rosi ( no e ) King:
If there is anything involving something over 24 hours in duration, preferably
with some weird discipline like ropes, yakking or extended duration of mud
immersion then Rosie has probably been involved. Having won the Crocodile
Trophy and competed in events from Mont 24hr ( won that as well ), X-Raid,
Geoquest, Arrow and a plethora of other mountain bike and adventure racing
events she is probably one of the best versed in competition in the crew.
Either trains 0 or 30 hours a week, nothing in between, with combinations
of Yoga, running, paddling, swimming, surfing and some riding to fill the
gaps.
Bikes - Cannondale Rush 3000, Old "special
" Roadie, Cannondale 1FG

Hamish Elliot:
The young gun of the CBD crew currently racing with the Cannondale Maxxis
Team as their Under 23 representative. With a fashion sense relying on the
experience of the 80's under the unique guidance of Chis " peg man"
Wilson, the mullet hair do and suave" Neil Stephens " look endures
on. Hitting up the 8hr series this year Hamish will be beat boxing his way
through to the 12hr. If you are one wondering how he goes so fast he doesn't
work that hard and trains around 600km week or 800 in a good week ( only
kidding about the work thing he has a Bachelor of Human Movement so knows
what work is about )

Steve "the wrench" Cox
Stolen from the comforts of Albion Cycles ( thanks Frank ) Steve has been
put to hard labor in the salt mines of City Bike Depot's workshop. Super
commuter and weekend bohemian Steve has bought a calming influence to the
upper levels of CBD and is yet to be proven ruffable although multiple K-Mart
bikes tend to bring him out in a weird rash that only "quiet time"
with a quality Campagnolo equipped road bike can cure. Has cycle toured
through the endearing parts of England, France and South Coast NSW. Has
been a bike Mechanic for 6 years but had a real job once as a biologist
for 8 years with National Parks after his Bachelor in Environmental Science.
We now use citrus degreaser and have to clear the workshop of all small
animals before each days work.
Ride - Dual suspension mountain bike - Truk Road
bike.
Main transport - riding
Worst Injury - pain and suffering not getting
coffee before 9am.
Alan " Scotland" Swinton
Scotland has been one of the true competitors in the war between those
uninspired non weight weenies and the true believers of the cause to reduce
as much weight form the bike ( in reverse correlation to personal weight
). Star Wars impersonator, Alan's rapid fire banter has kept much of the
shop either confused or in stitches dependant on understanding the strange
dialect and accent. Typically euro dedication to obscure bike porn parts
from England preferably in Titanium. All parts must have had to been posted
on Weight Weenies at some stage - life dream - to build a sub 6 kg singlespeed.
Having graduated form the humble beginnings of a 1985 Mongoose BMX single
speed still sticks with this crew of bikes.

Adam MacBeth
"The bounce" Macbeth is one of Australia's top trials riders
and along with his dislike of ambient jazz music thinks Ryan Leech is soft
and wrong. Attempting to influence and convince the rest of the staff that
rear wheel to front wheel transfers is the future and Boxxing shoes are
the new black. Has taken weight reduction to new levels with the almost
a hair cut Mohawk and is the organizer of the NSW trials series.

Ali CULPIN
The mild mannered uber athlete often surprises with the feats of endurance
and relative stupidity for someone so apparently sensible. Purveyor of some
classic GT LTS parts and bike as well as full techno Kona race machines
Ali has been known to tear the competition apart winning the Simpson Desert
Classic for a couple of years running. In between hanging at the shop she
is a Demographic planner using her BEc (Demography) which is the scientific
study of population – counting people..... Mmmmm undercover counter
?

Celia Cramer:
This girl is so bubbly we should nickname her champagne. Relatively new
to the world of cycling after adding three kids and a husband to life she
is jumping in with both feet. . We have reduced her caffeine intake for
fear of her exploding with energy one day and solving Australia's nuclear
power debate for good. Gradually we have tried to focus her excess energy
to development of goodness of Bikedom as seen in the pile of prizes gathered
for the last NSW State Champs . Bike knowledge sponge and transfer system
in one unit Celia is a welcome addition to the daily life of CBD.
Rides - Cannondale Rush
Lusts for - Yeti 575 and Hubby Charlie
Finest hour - Dirt Works 50km finishing 2hrs ahead

Best Injurys: Discloated Shoulder, blood donor
to all MTB trails in Sydney.
Freya:
Infamous for differing hair color dependant on training schedules this
pilate's instructor has turned adventure racer and more recently podium
finisher at the 2005 world 24hr mtb championships in Whistler. With Southern
Traverse and Geoquest under her belt she is accomplished in all forms of
stupid events that require little sleep but is still eternally upbeat.
Rides - Scott RC MTB
Lusts for - another day in the week to cram more
stuff into life
Cat Mcinnes:
Dr Catt makes house visits to CBD to get a sanity check and a courier update.
Qualified surgeon and been known to cut people off at the knees with a single
stare or scalpel equally as well. Catt has been a cycle courier in both
London and Sydney where she bumped into "pretty boy " Jamie and
imported him back to the land of OZ.
House of - 11 bikes in various forms of geared
and single speed configurations.
Latest Addition - Circa 1930 Australian built
tandem track frame
Looking for - more obscure Campagnolo parts to
complete Bianchi project
Tour highlight - riding Alpe D Huez on a fixed
gear track bike while following tour in 2003
Mitch Cameron:
Saturday denizen of downhill Mitch is part of our weekend crew keeping things
afloat. Happily hucking the new Norco A-Line into submission and learning
as many ways as possible to pull a bike apart. Putting back together is
next challenge.
MARTINA BRODER
The creator and organizer of the MTB oz Chix list and immensely popular
chix skills clinics Marti has competed in everything from downhill racing
to winning the 8hr adventure race in Royal National park. Marti's influence
to CBD is ever present even if her day to day presence as she chases the
corporate glory is not.
